Hij was een deugdzame geleerde uit de ulema-klasse, opgegroeid in Tire, en de zoon van Mahmud Efendi van Tire. Nadat hij zijn opleiding in Tire had voltooid, diende hij als müderris (professor) en overleed in 1690.
